Argiolas
Mainland
wines tend to lose the individuality of their Italian varieties
when crafted in an international style, but this Sardinian
winery maximizes the unique characteristics of their indigenous
grapes from its vineyards situated in the Trexenta hills north
of Cagliari. Three generations old and currently overseen
by Antonio Argiolas, the estate is run by a close-knit family,
assisted by eminent oenologist Giacomo Tachis. The Turriga
is a standout, consistently receiving the Gambero Rosso Three
Glass award and is without doubt the classiest, highest quality
wine produced on the island. It is an exotic blend of the
indigenous cannonau, carignano, malvasia, and bovale.
